After Maribel and Jon were pronounced man and wife, they and their loved ones cheered and headed happily down to the train station at Roaring Camp Railroad to board the train for a celebratory ride. It is not often that you get to photograph a wedding that includes a train ride through the Santa Cruz mountains.

I love when couples go off the beaten path to create a celebration that is unique to them, and these two did just that. Not only did Maribel and Jon have a train car at their wedding, but they had a lot of genuine connections to document. All these little stories intertwined in the big story of their life together. The emotions were flowing freely on this day and you could tell that the roots between everyone at the wedding ran deep. You didn’t need to know their history to feel the connections between everyone in attendance.

The experience of hanging out with this sweet group of humans on a train was one that left me with an immense feeling of gratitude. The adventures that photography has taken me on over the last decade since I started my business have been beyond my wildest dreams.
