When Katrina and I first started talking about planning their San Francisco engagement session, I knew it was going to be special. We threw around different ideas. Beach? Golden Gate park in the woods? Something rustic? In the end, we figured we needed to go with the best option – something that really represented the two of them. They were both fans of Wes Anderson films and dressing up, so we decided to go with it and meet up at the sophisticated location of the Financial District as our backdrop.
Very often, there isn’t a set game plan for a session. We find our starting point, a potential theme, and go on a little adventure together. I chase the light, we go places that we aren’t supposed to be until we get yelled at to leave. It’s my normal recipe for amazing. With a stroke of luck and some searching on the internet, we found a roof top garden and snuck on up in order to get some killer photographs overlooking the city.
Luckily we were not kicked out of any locations. So we avoided all awkwardness and just stuck to getting awesome photos.
Just enough wind, some soft light all day, and so very much style. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in Pueto Rico next year. If their engagement is any indication of how incredible it will be… I am in for a treat.
