2013 was quite a year. I would call it a year of recovery and growth.
In 2012 and part of 2013 I suffered from a lot of illnesses and ailments. Bells Palsy, ear infections, two fractured ankles, severe kidney issues… and it really took a toll on my photography and life. While I believed my pictures were still strong I felt the fire dim for photography. I hate admitting that, but it’s crazy was so much illness and pain will do to your mind.
However, after healing from my 2nd fractured ankle early in the year… I got that recharge I needed. While I had less weddings this year due to being injured and sick in the booking season, I still had an incredible season filled with beautiful weddings and exciting people. My passion was back, and I found my love for photography all over again. When you nearly lose something, that’s when you realize how much it means to you. Being unable to shoot for so long really left a hole in my heart that is finally filled back up and excited for what 2014 holds for me creatively.
This year was also a year of working with some really great talent. I got to have such creative talents as Nessa, Matt and Courtney shoot along side me. I also got to do some second shooting again by working with amazing photographers Logan and Hannah.
From San Francisco to Baltimore, 2013 showed me some beautiful places, people, and experiences. I am not more booked for this coming year than I have ever been before and I just know it’s seriously going to be my best year yet.
Cheers, everyone! Hold on to your loved ones and make your 2014 an amazing one.
