I sometimes tend to be a bit of a negative person by nature.
Always thinking of what can go wrong. Worrying about what I am eating. Worrying about where I will be in ten years. Worrying that I will be late. Worrying about money. Worrying if this or that person likes me. Worry. Worry. Worry.
However, the second I start shooting it all sort of melts away. I enter the zone and just seem to focus on the good. I guess the positive energy of the days I get to document really fuel me. Whatever it is, I cannot explain the high I feel when I drive away from a shoot. Be it a boudoir, portrait, or wedding session.
There’s this incredibly blissful feeling I get. Like nothing can hold me back. Like I just don’t need to worry about a damn thing.
Thank you to every single person that let me photograph them in 2014. Thank you for the laughs. The images. The stories. Thank you for making the world melt away.
You showed me the sheer beauty of Santa Barbara, The best last dance of the night the world has ever seen, how to rock a First Dance to “Everything I do I do it for you” and pull it off. You showed me that I could run on the beach with all my gear and live to tell about it. You allowed me to document love with the majestic views of Big Sur as a backdrop. You let me literally be a part of an incredibly powerful wedding ceremony. These and so many moments I will never forget.
I worked with some new, and old friends this year. With my brother who was my primary 2nd shooter moving to Santa Monica this year, I was left meeting new incredible talents to cover weddings with. So not only did I get to shoot with Matthew when he was in town, but also my beautiful friend Courtney, and the wonderful talents that are Stephanie, Shelby, Megan, Barbara, Olivia, and Paul. Thank you to every one of you for teaming up with me to make my clients so happy.
And let’s not forget those who kept me company during all those long car rides and helped in keeping my client’s hair in place. Lala and Heather you’re my favorites.
Going into 2015, I find I am at a different place in my life than I have ever been before. I am more hopeful, happy, and confident. This New Year is bringing me to not only new stunning venues in Northern California, but a San Diego wedding as well as a wedding as far as Puerto Rico.
Despite my tendency to be negative… I am going to take this time to say I am so blessed. Thank you God for everything you have given me.
Happy New Year, everyone.
